Disclaimer/A Note of Caution
One of the sad realities that most writers of blogs/posts about this industry are all too aware of is that these routinely serve as ammunitions for gossiping and guessing games. I can't help but think that this post will partly meet the same fate and this is why I go out of my way to protect the identities of Erin and L.
We live in a free world - if anyone gets a virtual/real hard-on (or any other kind of excitement) out of wanking off on speculating who is being referred to in various posts of this blog, know this: the person below has never been mentioned on this blog and likely never will again. And it is, ironically, not about that person but the truly wonderful people he or she has so badly let down and disappointed when all these helpful people owed this person nothing yet made heroic efforts to get him or her out of the situations the person got into. Deliberate vagueness as to gender is, as one can guess, meant. No matter my and many others' disappointment towards this person, we still wish the best for X even if we all realise that in reality X is all but in a f**ked situation.
Resolving Some Past Regrets
Meeting with Yana has resolved some of my own past regrets in respect of my own friendship and assistance towards X, a participant in this industry. X benefitted from enormous friendship, sacrifices/offers of time and other forms of support (including material forms) by providers and clients alike. Yet despite everyone's efforts, X's life has thoroughly fallen apart due to X's choices and decisions. Before we discussed this, both of us had plenty of ideas about the extent of support that X had received from all quarters but the two of us together (in a thoroughly discretion respecting way) collectively filled in with each other the number of chances through which X really could have rescued oneself yet never did.I had reflected somewhat on how X could have just uttered not a word to these many people who provided X with all sorts of support and help and "disappeared". But Yana helped me see a light: what matters isn't what X is doing and what can be done for X (this person is truly, truly beyond all our reasonable efforts to help) but what lessons of life can be extracted out of the selfless acts done by those many people.
Behind the necessary curtains of illusion in this industry, we are all humans. Some of these people truly found it within their hearts and minds to do things for X. X wasn't wise enough to accept the help (or perhaps it was just fate) but undoubtedly these people's concerns and love for a fellow human made the world a slightly better place. That is worth celebrating.
